Japan Golf Booking FAQ

Common questions about booking a tee time across Japan through Book Golf Japan.

What does the green fee include in Japan?

Our reference fees are per golfer, in US dollars, for 18 holes including locker access and a shared motorized cart (often GPS-guided). Unlike Southeast Asia, caddies in Japan are optional or course-dependent (many Japanese courses are self-play with automated carts). Course-specific inclusions are listed on each course page.

Are the prices final?

Reference fees give you an accurate benchmark for weekdays and weekends/holidays. We check your date and preferred tee window directly with the Japanese golf club and aim to confirm within 2–4 hours.

How do I book?

Choose a Japanese course, submit your preferred date, tee window and number of players, then enter your credit card. We hold the authorization, confirm directly with the club, and email your confirmation within 2–4 hours. Your card is charged only after confirmation.

Do I need a Japanese phone number, address, or club membership?

No. Many prestigious Japanese courses historically require domestic phone numbers, local addresses, or member introductions. Book Golf Japan handles the reservation directly for international visitors in English, with international card payment.

What is the dress code and clubhouse etiquette in Japan?

Japanese golf clubs have traditional etiquette: collared shirts tucked into slacks or tailored shorts, soft spike golf shoes (no metal spikes), and a jacket/blazer upon arrival and departure at prestigious clubs. Please avoid denim, sandals, or t-shirts in the clubhouse.

What is the traditional Japanese lunch break ('hiru kyuukei') during the round?

Most Japanese courses play 9 holes, pause for an included or à la carte hot lunch and rest at the clubhouse restaurant for 45–60 minutes, then play the remaining 9 holes. It is a beloved part of Japanese golf culture.

Can I rent clubs and ship my golf bag via luggage courier (Takkyubin)?

Yes. Premium rental clubs are available at most courses. Furthermore, Japan's Yamato Transport (Black Cat / Takkyubin) allows you to ship your golf bag straight from Haneda/Narita airport or your hotel directly to the golf course locker room 1–2 days prior to your round.

What are the rules regarding the post-round bathhouse (Ofuro / Onsen)?

Virtually all Japanese golf clubhouses feature immaculate hot spring baths (ofuro) to soak after your round. Towels and amenities are provided. As with all Japanese baths, wash thoroughly before entering the tub, and please note visible tattoos may need to be covered in accordance with club policies.
